These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your membership of, and your use of the website operated by, NIDO South Korea ("NIDO SK", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, becoming a member, or otherwise using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or apply for membership.
1. About NIDO South Korea
NIDO South Korea is the Republic of Korea chapter of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation — a non-profit, non-political community body that exists to support, connect, and represent Nigerians living in South Korea. We are run by an elected executive in accordance with our constitution.
2. Membership eligibility
Membership is open to Nigerians living in the Republic of Korea, and to others who support our aims as our constitution allows. To register you must:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- Be old enough to enter into a binding agreement;
- Keep your details up to date.
All applications are reviewed by the leadership, and membership becomes active only after approval. We may decline or revoke membership where information is false, where these Terms or our constitution are breached, or where conduct harms the community.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account. Choose a strong password, do not share your account, and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use. We are not responsible for losses arising from your failure to safeguard your account.
4. Membership dues and payments
Members may be required to pay annual dues, and may choose to pay for event tickets or make donations. By making a payment, you agree to the amount shown at the time. Unless stated otherwise or required by law, dues and donations are non-refundable, as they fund the running of the organisation and its activities. Event ticket refunds, where offered, are handled according to the terms shown for that event.
5. Events and tickets
Some events are free and some are ticketed. When you RSVP or buy a ticket, you agree to any specific conditions stated for that event (such as capacity limits, age restrictions, or conduct rules). Tickets are personal to you and must not be resold for profit. We may need to change, postpone, or cancel an event; where this happens, we will communicate with affected members.
6. Code of conduct
NIDO SK is a community built on respect. When using the website or taking part in activities, you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against any person;
- Post or share unlawful, abusive, misleading, or inappropriate content;
- Misuse the members' directory or any member's contact details (including for spam, marketing, or solicitation);
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
- Attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the website.
We may suspend or remove members who breach this code.
7. Welfare support
Welfare support is offered at the discretion of the organisation and is subject to available resources. It is a gesture of community solidarity and is not a guarantee of financial assistance, nor does it constitute legal, medical, or financial advice. Welfare requests are handled confidentially by the welfare team.
8. Your content
You retain ownership of the information and content you submit. By submitting it, you grant NIDO SK permission to use it as needed to operate your membership and the organisation (for example, displaying your profile in the directory if you opt in). You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share anything you submit.
9. Our content and intellectual property
The NIDO SK name, logo, and the content we publish on this website are owned by or licensed to the organisation and are protected by law. You may not copy, reproduce, or use them for commercial purposes without our written permission.
10. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate membership or access to the website where these Terms or our constitution are breached, where required by law, or to protect the community. On termination, certain information may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The website and our activities are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we work to keep information accurate and the service running, we do not guarantee that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of inaccuracies. Guides and information we share are for general help only and are not professional advice.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NIDO SK and its officers and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the website, your reliance on its content, or your attendance at events, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to hold NIDO SK harmless from claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the website, or your infringement of the rights of others.
14. Privacy
Your use of the website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Korean courts, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you may have.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify members. Continuing to use the website or your membership after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Contact us
Questions about these Terms can be sent to the NIDO South Korea secretariat through our Contact page.
